/> FAQ About DTF Transfers– Cajun Transfers

What is DTF?

A DTF transfer, which stands for "Direct To Film" transfer, is a printing method where a design is printed directly onto a special film, then transferred onto a fabric using a heat press, allowing for detailed, full-color designs on a variety of materials like cotton, polyester, or blends, even on dark-colored garments; essentially, it's a high-quality heat transfer that can be applied to diverse substrates with excellent color vibrancy and durability.

How do you apply DTF?

You must use a commercial heat press. Make sure your design is face up, you should be able to see and read the design clearly. Our transfers are pressed at 310 for 15 sec at med to high pressure. This is a suggested start, you know your heat press. Do not use a Teflon or any cover for the first press.  After the first press peel the transfer immediately, rip it off. Discard the film and press with the same setting but place a Teflon sheet over the design.

How do you store DTF?

Direct-to-Film (DTF) transfers have revolutionized the custom apparel industry, offering vibrant, durable, and versatile designs for various fabrics.

To maintain their quality and ensure optimal results, proper storage is essential. This guide provides best practices for storing your DTF transfers, ensuring they remain in peak condition for your pressing projects.

Store in Cool Dry Place:

·       Moisture can compromise the adhesive properties of DTF transfers, leading to premature peeling and reduced print quality.

·       Placing silica packets with your transfers provides extra protection against moisture.

·       Store transfers in opaque containers or drawers away from direct sunlight to preserve their vibrancy.

·       Dust and debris can affect print quality and adhesion.

·       Lay transfers flat in storage to maintain their shape and ensure they remain smooth and ready for use.

·       Over stacking can cause transfers to stick together or become damaged. If stacking is necessary, place a protective sheet, like parchment paper, between each transfer to prevent sticking.

Monitor Shelf Life

DTF transfers have a finite shelf life, typically ranging from six months to a year.

Implement a system to monitor the age of your transfers, ensuring you use them within their optimal time frame for the best results.

By following these storage guidelines, you can maintain the quality and longevity of your DTF transfers, ensuring consistent, high-quality prints for your custom apparel projects.
